"So I had the frozen charger screen and after talking with Microsoft support (which is kind of frustrating) these steps remedied my problem:
1) Let the charge completely die in the battery (until the charger screen is gone)
2) Don't know if this helps, but I reinstalled my Zune software just to be sure
3) Connect your Zune device when it prompts you
4) Be patient and wait until your comp recognizes the device.
(note) I plugged it in and walked away for about 20 minutes and when I came back the computer was seeing new hardware.
From what I could understand from the tech guy (thick accent) this issue has something to do with a latent charge from testing within the factory. And since you can't remove the battery you have to let it die. How long depends on the charge. Mine took a full day to die.
Now my Zune works great, no new issues as of yet.
As an added gripe I think Microsoft should contain more technical documentation with the Zune rather than detering people to their website. Clearly this product is not as simple as "Plug in and go!"
Hopefully they address this initial battery issue soon.
Hope this helps!" -skotarach
