Microsoft have truly surpassed themselves with the crapness of the Zune software haven't they? I can't wait till someone makes a plugin to use it in Winamp, but until then I'm stuck using this half-rate, incompetent piece of trash, so I'd be grateful if anyone knows how to get around these niggles...

1. Sometimes it puts songs by some artists into a folder called Various Artists, even though some of the songs by the same artist are given their own folder. Why?

2. This one really p*sses me off. If you have two songs with the same title, or even a slightly similar one (example: 50 Cent - Outta Control / 50 Cent Outta Control Remix feat. Mobb Deep), the software can't tell the difference between the two, so it only adds one to the collection. If you try and add the other, it simply replaces the previous one. This strikes me as unforgiveable stupidity on the part of whoever programmed this mess, and how they have managed to not fix it in the updates beggars belief. It also does it with SOME songs which have the same name but different artist (but not others, strangely).

Does anyone know how to fix either of these things? The hardware itself is top notch, but the software isn't worth the disc it comes on, much like 95% of Microsoft's recent efforts. I am perfectly happy f*cking around with the Windows registry, so if that's what it takes, fine.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply.

The ID3 tags should be fine, however. I painstakingly typed them all myself when I ripped my CD collection. When two songs have a similar title though, such as the above example, it should be able to recognise they are two different files, being of different sizes, lengths and names...it's ridiculous really, winamp, media player, any other program can tell they are not the same, why can't the Zune software? It's such an obvious problem it should really have been fixed in the update. There's literally no way I can find to add both files to the player - adding one simply deletes the other.
