Not Yet Rated Zune Randomly Disconnects from computer / Wont stay connected

Sometimes it will stay connected for 10+ mins other times just seconds. It also likes to disconnect while trying to transfer music or video. I dont know if this is connected to the problem but for some reason the porgram also crash's if I try and download podcasts but only just before they finish downloading like at 99% complete. ps. Its not the usb port or the cord thats the problem as It works on my work computer and the port works fine for everything else.  Thanks for any help on this topic.

No consistency to its pattern other than it occurs while I am trying to sync.  Mine must have rebooted 8 times in the last 4 mins.

It disconnects from computer and then screen goes completely blank, and doesn't respond, but the touchpad is warm. I have to let all the battery drain and then I can connect it again to my computer and it will charge again, but then it'll disconnect by itself 10 min later. :S

Join Date: Feb 12, 2009 Post Count: 1   jimviviano User Options View All Posts By jimviviano View jimviviano's Stats     i had this problem with my 2 30g units long before january. i think it began with my last update. i have had some success getting the units to connect if i restart the computer with the zune hooked up but it doesn't seem to work all of the time. i think microsoft has a problem that they are not willing to admit to. here is my complete reply: i am having a problem with my xp pc loading the zune (i have 2, both with same problem).  my pc cycles the zune on and off continuously and says it is not recognized but the "unload device safely utility) recognizes it as a zune and then disconnects and immediately tries to reconect. i believe the problems started when i did the last zune update as there were no problems before. i have sp3 and my zune is up to date when i do finally get connected and check on the web site. i believe there is a zune software problem. i am able to connect if i restart the pc with the zune connected, usually.

It keeps giving me the disconnection noise followed by the reconnection one. I have literally run out of ideas to fix this. As someone whom listens to music 8 hours a day and hasn't left without my zune since I got it, I'm very angry.
