When I have completely exited out of the Zune software ZuneNss.exe still runs in the background and at times uses up to 25% of my cpu (for brief periods) which slows down my system significantly. Does anyone know how to keep the Zune software functioning but only when I am actively running it?

The ZuneNss.exe process is used to share media between your PC and the XBox 360 (endgadget - about 1/3 of the way down). It is only needed if you are actively sharing music with your XBox.

If you kill the process through the Task Manager's Process Explorer, it will reload. If you want to disable the process, and free up ~25MB of memory, do the following:
• Load your Zune software
• Right-click on the top bar of application (near the minimize icon)
• Hover over any item with a black "fly-out" arrow
• When the new menu slides out, select More Options
• Select the Library tab at the top of the Options box
• Under the Sharing section, click the Configure Sharing... button
• Uncheck the Share my Media checkbox
• Click Ok to exit the configuration options.
• Click Ok to exit the Options box.
• Dance a small jig since your computer is a little less bloated :taz:
•
*** Remember, this will remove the ability to share music with your XBox.
