Are you locking the controls before putting it in your pocket?

is was walking off the bus and the headphoones just made a weak pop an they stopped making noise, at home i then tried several other headphones and they didnt work so its narrowed down to the zune, i tried resetting int and it wouldnt turn on.
I waited and tried the three key reset ( <,center and 11> it showed a battery icon and i charged it. I later tried the headphones again nothing. I didnt buy the warranty in angry i didnt.

I used to have the same problem... It seemed like any time I would leave it alone for longer than an hour it would have to restart when I wanted to use it. Finally I got sick of it and I just returned it to Sam's Club, new one works great. I think it might just be a problem with temperature... Only times it ever did that was when it was extremely cold, or very hot.

The same thing is happening to me, I've dropped it a couple of times with a case on it, im guessing its because its using hard drive and when dropped it ruins it.

My zune has also been restarting. So I tryed a few things like taking it out of the case I have it in.Didnt help still restarted, then I put it in the factory case no change. So I thought maybe if I change my work environment. Its very cold and dry here lots of static so I gto some anti-static spray at wallgreens and put it on my shoes and shirt and pants.Put anti-static (son of a gun) on the cast.
Went back to work and it stopped resarting on me, Well only once a day now was 10 times this really helped.
I have found out that the reason my zune keeps restarting is static
Maybe someone knows a better way like an anti-static case for zune.

Well when did you buy it? If less than a year you can get a new on, sounds like its faulty. When do you expect to return to us to do that? Within the warranty time I hope.

First make sure you have a backup of your music and videos on your computer then format (not reset) your zune here is how How to restore your Zune device (WARNING THIS WILL DELETE ALL PRE-INSTALLED CONTENT) back that up to if you want to keep that stuff .Then reinstall your 1.4 firmware. Then make sure you have the latest zune software on your pc.
That should do it. If not send it back to M$.

I too am having the same problem. I have never dropped my Zune, when my player started to reboot, I put the lock on. The device is in my jacket pocket and is not disturbed. The only thing that changes is maybe slight movements in the headphones. Today it happened about 5 times within one hour, other times it has happened less frequently, and sometimes I have no problem at all. This is ridiculous, and I am getting very pissed at this problem. Microsoft needs to release a firmware update correcting the problem, or else they can kiss all hopes of gaining market share from the iPod goodbye.
