Using the device while plugged into a computer

Ok, this one may have been obvious to some people, but it got me frustrated so I thought I would share.

I wanted to be able to charge the zune from a usb port, but still use the zune itself to listen to music. However when it was plugged in it just said "Connected" and I couldn't use the device. I looked for some kind of eject button in the zune software, because Ipods used to have this same issue, but couldn't find any. I looked and looked, and searched the internet and just couldn't figure it out. Finally I gave up and closed the zune software and shazam, the connected screen on the device went away.

So again, this may be obvious to some people, but if you want to play with the zune while it's plugged into a computer, just close the zune software.

My friend had an ipod but his broke, he bought the ipod charger outlet, that connects into the outlet and has a usb port on the outside. He let me have it and it works great with the zune and its cheaper than any of those car adapters that cost $100, so try to get one of those.

Wow, you try and post a simple tip, and you get called childish names.

I only hope I can aspire to become as intelligent and respectable as Chris16.

Eh, don't worry about it.

I'm sure some people found your tip useful. To be honest, I think I had the same issue with my iPod when I first got it a few years ago.

well, it was an impulse...i didn't think before i said...and i am sorry...but i think that people would've already known that...he could've added something on to that like how to do sumthin like play music thru the PC...instead of sumthin that microsoft tells you on there site...so...sorry, but still, it was stupid...

The only thing that's stupid is the Zune software. As a new Zune and MP3 player user, I found the software to be the most clunky non-intuitive interface I have ever used, with the exception of Itunes when it first launched. I have had to scour the internet trying to find answers to questions on how to do simple things as well.
I have a 360 and the XBL dashboard is a total joy to use. I don't understand why Microsoft would not have patterned the Zune interface after that.
If you're 16 like chris apparently is, you have probably been using MP3 players and interfaces for a long time and already know how to figure out some of the "stupid" things.
If you're also 16 like chris, you have not learned what the words courtesy or class mean either.

Thank you very much for this info. I purchased a Zune for my wife for X-Mas and now try to to figure out many things how this work. Not everyone know how, your info is greatly appreciated.
