It's ok to be a "newbie" lots of people are.
step by step insructions to take music off your zune and computer:
step 1: go into the zune software on your computer (must have zune plugged into computer for this to work)
step 2: if you are not already in your collection go to it
step 3: find the song/podcast/video that you want to take off
step 4: right click it and press "delete" in the list that comes down
step 5: a small window will pop up saying, "are you sure you want to delete "(insert name of song)"?"
step 6: if you click "keep files but remove from collection" your computer will still have the song on it if you click delete files and remove from collection it will delete it on your computer and your collection. when you do this if you are using smartsync ( automatically syncs your zune when you plug it into your computer) it will take the item off your zune
step by step instructions to just take music off your zune (if abovve method doesnt work use this)
step 1: plug zune into computer and open zune software
step 2:go into device section
step 3: right click item you want to delete and press delete in the list that comes down
either way works perfectly but the first method only works if you have smartsync enabled
