Every day people use google to search for everyday things. However a large percentage of people never use google to it's full potential. Google is one of the best sources of finding files such as mp3's, videos, programs etc. You can find absolute loads of open mp3 directories containing a ton of direct download links by simply using Google. If your one of the people on this site who simply can't find enough mp3 download links this is the article for you!

First up have a look at the below search string:

intitle:index.of + "extension" + "filename" -htm -html -php -asp

Now lets simply edit the string to find mp3's. This searches for open download directories.

intitle:index.of + "mp3" + "artist" -htm -html -php -asp

Okay, copy the above search string into the google search bar. Change the text artist to the singer, band or album name you are trying to find.

For my example we are wanting to find some mp3's from the legendary punk band "Descendents". So here is what I search in google.

intitle:index.of + "mp3" + "Descendents" -htm -html -php -asp

Google URL

Now we are faced with some results:

This is where the luck comes in place, depending on the artist you are looking for you may come across a few dead links or password protected directories, however the majority of the time you will find great open download directories, just keep clicking through the results.

So we click the first result which came up, and find an open directory, with not only a few decent mp3's, but ton of others (this doesn't happen every time but more often than not).

And for the last time, here is the search string, save it!

intitle:index.of + "mp3" + "Descendents" -htm -html -php -asp

Believe me, there are an unbelievable amount of open directories out there and you can find them doing this simple search in less than 1min of your time.

How can you find albums I hear you say? Slightly harder, however using the similar method. A majority of the time you will find album directories when searching for mp3's. However when searching change the file extension in the search string to zip or rar and you may find the album in a compressed file format (albums are usually put in .zip or .rar format to compress the file size) which makes it a bit harder to find them.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Recommended Google Search Strings (copy and paste) - Text in red is what you will need to change.

Make up your own to improve results!

Albums

intitle:index.of + "mp3" + "album" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "mp3" + "albums" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "mp3" + "album name" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "zip" + "album name" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "rar" + "artist" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "zip" + "artist" -htm -html -php -asp

Movies/TV/Music videos/etc

intitle:index.of + "mpg" + "familyguy" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "mpeg" + "simpsons" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "avi" + "dvd" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "zip" + "blah" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "rar" + "blah" -htm -html -php -asp

These are the main movie file types, obviously change the red to w/e you are searching for.

Other good keywords: dvd, full, dvdrip, dvd rip, tv, tvrip, tv rip, episode, film, movie, comedy, action, horror etc

Funny Videos

File types: mpg, mpeg, avi, wmv

intitle:index.of + "mpg" + "funny" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "mpg" + "humour" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "mpg" + "comedy" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "mpg" + "fun" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "mpg" + "funnyvids" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "mpg" + "funnyvideos" -htm -html -php -asp

intitle:index.of + "mpg" + "funny videos" -htm -html -php -asp

Enjoy!

I still prefer to use Microsoft's Windows Live to find videos and their web search to find mp3's...

Sweet! I always used to use file name and format in my keyword searches. This looks much more effective.

This site ( Goofile - Google Based File Search ) allows you to search music using google and get the exactly same results, but without the hussle of memorizing the google keywords - just enter the artist or the name of the song you're looking for!
