I've figured it is the Zune software getting confused after ripping the CD but failing to create appropriate "Artist/Collaborator" details in the Tags - on only 2 or 3 CD in a set of 10. However, without "genuine" tag info Zune keeps deleting the ripped audio files. Typical MS overkill (to prevent illegal copying) which originates from its own flawed software.
And trying to get help on this from someone in India who has never ripped an audio-book is too crushing for words.

First off the easiest thing to do is to rip using EAC and lame. After that use a program called mp3tag, the newest version is 2.38 and there you can edit your tags and the disc tag. After that import it into the Zune software where everything will work just peachy fine. And all of this software is FREE, not open source, but still free. Well lame is open source, but that's a whole different story.
