I have a Zune 30 running v 2.5 firmware.  I've been happily downloading podcasts for months with no problems.  Now suddenly, any podcast I try to download I get an exclamation mark icon to the left of the title, and when I click this icon I get the following dialog box:

EPISODE DOWNLOAD ERROR
Can't download this episode.  There could be
a temporary network outage or a problem with the podcast feed.

Error Code:  C00D1316
I tried changing the location of the podcast folder several times.  I uninstalled the Zune software and reinstalled it, also no joy.  To verify that the problem is the Zune software and not the network or podcast feed I installed iTunes and subscribed to all the same podcasts.  I was able to download them all with no problems.  Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Kindest Regards,
smok1n

Gang,

There's a lot of smart people monitoring this forum.  Surely there's someone out there that has the answer to this glitch?  Maybe some obscure registry bit that needs to be flipped?  How did the rest of you that have complained about this problem get it fixed?  I'm using iTunes to pull down the podcasts and having the Zune software "find" the files for transfer to the Zune, what a kludge!

I had this same problem until about an hour ago, and have largely solved it.

I've got a Zune 80 and was receiving my podcasts regular until the yellow exclamations turned up. My pods get downloaded onto an external drive which for some reason lost its connection, once restored the podcasts came rolling back in....except for 1

The problematic pod goes through the 'downloading' graphic on screen, but as soon as its completed, it flips me the exclamation sign. When i check the properties there is no destination folder for the downloaded pod, compared with other non problematic pods, when i check the folder of where it should be dropped theres nothing their.

I'm still working on the problematic one and will let you know if i figure it out...but like the iTunes work around once the pod makes it to the folder it all works fine...?

For the past few days I, too, have had trouble with my podcast subscriptions. Without fail, I get the message "Microsoft Zune has stopped working" - sometimes after minute, sometimes after a few minutes.

Hoping to locate the problem, I've unsubscribed to all podcasts. I'm using Buzz Out Loud as my one test podcast and have found a repeatable error. The Zune software begins downloading a podcast episode and churns along until it gets to 99%. Instead of completing the download and having it available for syncing, the following error message pops up:
"Microsoft Zune has stopped working".

For kicks, I installed the Zune software on my daughter's PC and tried to download a podcast episode. The exact same error message appeared. We're both running Vista Home Premium.

Seems like it's a software issue. The Zune software says it's version 2.5.447.0.
Any ideas?

[9/4 edit] And of course for no reason whatsoever, my Zune software now downloads podcasts just fine. The only noticeable change was the installation of Adobe Premier Elements. Doubt that had anything to do with it, but you never know. All 50+ podcasts are back in the queue. Go figure.
