Sorry, maybe you have addressed this already, but all your thread counts are off.

For example there are threads with 0 replies listed, when you click in there are plenty of replies. Also there are some threads with -1 replies? WTF?

Just thought you might like to know.

Zune will pick up any music in the "watched" folders.

By default Zune watches "My Music" to add other folders do the following:

1) In the Zune software, click Settings, Software, Collection.

2) Click Add Folder for the type of media you want to add. Find the folder you want Zune to monitor and click OK.

This is a really common problem I am seeing.

Basically any content that wasn't put on your Zune by your current computer is considered reserved space for content from other computers. Included in this space is content from Zune (anything preinstalled).

The only way I have found to completely erase that space is to do a full reboot and delete.

**** WARNING **** You will lose all your content on the Zune Device if your proceed

1) Set the Hold switch to unlocked.

2) Press and hold the Back button Back at the same time as you press the top of the Zune pad. When the Zune device begins to start, release the buttons.

3) If you have a Zune 4 GB, Zune 8BG, or Zune 80GB, immediately press and hold the Back button Back at the same time as you press the Play/Pause button. Continue to hold these buttons until the Zune device restarts and you receive the following message:

Clearing contents. Please wait.

If you have a Zune 30GB, immediately press and hold the Back button at the same time that you press the right side of the Zune pad and the center of the Zune pad. Continue to hold these buttons until the Zune device restarts and you receive the following message:

Clearing contents. Please wait.

Chances are the music it is removing is being removed due to DRM issues. Where did you get the music? Are the DRMs up to date?

Steps I would follow:
1) Make sure the hold switch is not "On"
2) Make sure the Zune is fully charged.
a) Move the USB plug to another port
3) Reset the Zune
a) Press and hold the Back button while holding the Down on the Zune Pad
4) Call Tech Support

Usually I would say reboot, but it sounds like you have tried that.

My other instinct is that it is a DRM issue. They are really hard to determine as DRM is kind of a silent killer.

I would go the route of getting a new Zune. I hope they will give you the custom tattoo again for free, as they charge for it now.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Currently Zune does not support the download of files with authentication required.

Is there not a RSS feed you can use to obtain the files? That is after all what podcasting is all about. Having to go to a site and download each piece is merely sharing a file, not podcasting (IMHO)

Not a problem.

First let's see what version of the firmware you are running:

1. On the Home screen on the Zune device, select settings, and then press the center of the Zune pad.
2. Select about, and then press the center of the Zune pad.
3. Select zune, and then press the center of the Zune pad.

The latest Zune firmware is 2.3 (1145). If you Zune says it is running any other version, then an update is going to help, at least in some way.

If it already says 2.3 (1145) then we may need to contact support now. But you can always try to update the firmware anyways.

Here is how:

1. Make sure that you have the current version of the Zune software installed on your computer. To do this, follow these steps:
If you are a new Zune customer, visit the following Web site and install the Zune software for your computer:
Zune.net | Download Zune Software (http://www.zune.net/setup)

If you already have an earlier version of the Zune software installed on your computer, update the software. To do this, click Settings, click software, click GENERAL, and then click CHECK FOR UPDATES
2. Connect the Zune device to your computer by using the Zune sync cable. Use a USB port on the back of the computer. Do not use a USB hub.
Note If the battery in the Zune device is critically low, we recommend that you charge your Zune device before you continue. For more information about how to charge your Zune device, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

927348 (How to charge the battery in your Zune device) How to charge the battery in your Zune device
3. Open the Zune software while the Zune device is still connected to your computer. The Zune software searches the Internet for the latest version of the firmware. If a newer version of the Zune firmware is available than the version that you have installed, a notice to update your device appears. You can also manually check for new device updates by clicking Settings, by clicking device, and then by clicking Device Update.

Important Do not move or disconnect the Zune device until the update is complete. The update may take several minutes. During this time, the Zune device may restart several times. Please be patient.

I hope this helps.
