As for any MP3 player with wide visibility and popularity a wide variety of cases and holders have become available for the Microsoft Zune.  The Zune is known for being a more rugged and durable device than some of its competitors, but most people still want to keep their new toy as clean and scratch free for as long as possible.

There are several different styles of cases available. The first two are flip cases. These come in two different primary styles. Keep in mind that in all of these cases many more options exist than what could possibly be covered in a short post. Your standard two types of flip cases are horizontal or vertical open. So, essentially, one of the styles of cases opens like a little book, and the other opens like a cell phone would flip open. Both have two windows typically, one for the control pad and the other for the screen. Any good case will have a properly sized opening for you to access the headphone port as well.

There are also more rugged silicone cases that simply glove completely over the device, preventing it from sustaining any damage if it happens to be bumped against anything or even dropped possibly. (Don’t try it!) Most of these feature a silicone casing and a screen protector while allowing access to the controls and headphone port again.

The other main class of holders is the sports band. This is popular for all styles of MP3 players as they have huge popularity and prevalence amongst the gym going crowds, and in fact many of the features of MP3 players are marketed to suit the purposes of personal audio while working out. These armbands usually clasp around the arm with Velcro while keeping the controls exposed and screen protected so you can adjust the songs or settings while working out.

All of these cases come in a wide variety of colors and materials. Everything from silicon to leather, from cloth to plastic. You can find just about any color under the rainbow, and the color and material will affect the cost. Good leather cases can cost $50 or even higher, and you can get super cheap cases for $10 or under.  The most important factor in a case though is a screen protector. As this is your viewing area it is the most important part of the player to protect to ensure you continue enjoying the device as long as possible.
